H.G. and Hollywood are not the only ones to have a great interest in time travel. People elsewhere have conceived the possibility. Looking around the net reveals a number of time machine concepts:
Cal Piermarini decided to build a full scale working replica of the time traveling device featured in the 1960 motion picture version of the Time Machine, which was adapted from the 1895 novel. And the physicist Paul Davis tells us how to build a real Time Machine - well ...theoretically. There are some other time machines are out there as well. Not comparable to the real McCoy, but still fun to use. Mr. Time Machine randomly transports you back to the past, visiting - as he states - the best victorian and nostalgic sites on the web. Follis.com has built an Advertising Time Machine and the beautifully made Alexander Palace Time Machine transports you back into the time of a Romanov Palace. We will probably have to wait a few more years to slide though a wormhole of time. Until then we can perhaps reread the book, go see the upcoming Time Machine movie or use the internet to travel back and forth. | |
